Director of Operations
Nick Colombe joined SC Aviation in 2005 and recently transitioned to Director of Operations. Nick not only supervises the day to day operations of the company, but Nick is also a Hawker Captain. Colombe holds an MBA from DeVry University.
Director of Operations - Large Cabin/International
Gary Helmeid was hired by SC Aviation in 1998. He served as Chief Pilot for 7 years before moving to Director of Operations in 2005 and recently transitioned to a Falcon 2000 captain so that he could lead the growth and development of their large cabin aircraft division. Helmeid began his aviation career as a flight instructor and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Phillips University.
Director of Maintenance
Jim Dillavou joined the company in 2001. With more than 25 years of experience, Dillavou has expansive familiarity with Hawker aircraft including work at the Raytheon Aircraft Services Center (former parent company of Hawker Beechcraft.) In addition to his role with the charter certificate, Dillavou runs the Part 145 Repair Station owned and operated by SC Aviation. Dillavou is trained on all aircraft in the SC Aviation fleet, as well as various Falcon and Gulfstream models.
Dan Avers joined SC Aviation in 2007 with over 10 years’ experience in Lear Jets. Dan was promoted to Chief Pilot in early 2015. Dan supervises all SC pilots and serves as a Captain on the company’s Lear Jets. During his career at SC Dan has worked at not only increasing his experience in the cockpit but has also earned an MBA from the University of Wisconsin in 2013.
Assistant Chief Pilot
Matt Gasper joined SC Aviation in 2011. He has over 5,000 hours in his career and a diverse background in Aviation. Matt graduated from Purdue University and has flown charter, corporate, airlines and managed a flight school. He has flown both the Lear Jet and Hawker for SC Aviation and also serves as the company's training officer.
Russ Paulson is SC Aviation’s Chief Inspector. Paulson has 23 years of experience working with Hawker aircraft including 11 years with the Raytheon Service Center in Rockford. Paulson came to SC Aviation in 2003, coordinates all maintenance day-to-day and serves as principle author of maintenance manuals inclusive of Parts 135 and 145. Paulson is trained on Hawker, Lear and Challenger series aircraft and holds A&P and FCC Licenses in Classes 1 and 3. Paulson is also trained on the Falcon 2000.
Director of Charter Sales
Dan Morrison joined SC Aviation in 2012 with more than 10 years in the private aviation field. Serving most recently as Director of Charter Sales with a large Connecticut based company, Morrison spent many years prior in various roles with venerable aviation mainstay, Cessna Aircraft. Dan graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
Margaret Clark has worked in aviation for almost 30 years with the last 13 at SC Aviation. Margaret is responsible for day-to-day management of the scheduling department and its three schedulers.
Director of Safety
Adam Perakis was hired in 2014 to fly in their Hawker fleet. Since taking the reigns as SC Aviation’s safety officer in 2015 Adam his has been working diligently to take SC Aviation’s Safety Management System to the next level. Prior to joining SC Aviation, Adam served as a team safety leader and check airman for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Perakis holds a Masters of Aeronautical Science as well as Bachelors degree from Embry Riddle.
